There are both Federal and State regulations that affect the type of
vehicle that can be operated by Day Care Centers. Under NHTSA (The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration), a bus is any vehicle, including
a van, that has a seating capacity of 11 or more passengers including the
driver. Automobiles and some mini-vans would comply if the capacity is
under the 11 passengers. These vehicle need only meet the MPV (Multi-Purpose
Vehicle) requirements. We do not sell these vehicles.
If you desire a vehicle that transports 11 or more passengers including the driver, you must purchase a bus. The type of bus you can purchase will depend on the type of transportation. If the bus will be "used significantly" to transport "pre-primary, primary and secondary" students to or from school or related events, the bus must be a "school bus". We are dealers for "Mid Bus" and "Collins" and can provide school buses that can accommodate 11-41 passengers.
If you want a bus that transports 11 or more passengers and you are not significantly transporting to or from a school or school related activities, you can purchase a "Bus". We sell buses that do not require a CDL (passenger capacity of 15 or less) and buses that require a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with capacities up to 41 adults.
No matter what type of bus you need, we will make sure it complies with all Federal and State requirements.
